Bottle at Cotteridge Tasting, Saturday 24th January 2015 Pours black with a beige head, some bonfire toffee. This is quite a pokey beer a little harsh on the end/finish, has it got a little chilli in it? Roasty and bitter, this is very nice, pleasant warmth throughout, some dark chocolate, lovely. Bottle split with the Wingman at BD CLJ on a Tuesday night, cos we can and we will, 16/12/14. Pitch black with a decent tan covering that retains well. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, raisens, light spice, dark fruit. Taste comprises rich malt notes, chocolate maltesers, earthy charr, toffee fudge, chocolate biscuit, dates, raisens. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light roast and sweet licks in the close with some background hops. Solid Impy.

22oz bottle. Pours out black topped with a brown head. Nose is lots of roast malts milk chocolate vanilla and some pit fruit. Taste is as the nose with some the roast malts leading the charge coffee vanilla and some chocolate sweetness. Man I love the clown shoes imp stout.

22 oz. Bottle shared by Mick. 10% a pitch black pour with a rusty head. The nose is sweet hickory, light smoke & dark chocolatey malts. Nice med-full bodied, sweet & a bit fruity maybe cherrywood, hickory and roasty goodness. Great stuff. Wonderfully balanced.

From bottle to glass. Complex, rich matly aroma with strong chocolate and slight smoke. Black with brown highlights and a brown head. Flavor follows aroma with a richess and velvet aspects on the palate.

Bottle shared at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours jet black, thin dark tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, liquorice, dark stone fruit. Taste has light smoke, lots more chocolate. Velvety smooth. Lovely.

Aroma: The nose is heavy roasted malt, burnt/ash as well, with licorice, dark chocolate, and smoke
Appearance: Pours a pitch black color with a small, frothy brown head leaving plenty of spotty lace
Flavor: Dry/ashy/smokey malt flavors up-front, roast and chocolate notes lead to a mid-sweet middle palate, and it finishes with a boozy flavor that drowns out the earlier ashy and sweeter malt flavors
Palate: The body is medium, leaning toward full, with an average carbonation, and a dry, hot finish
Overall Impression: This one has quite a bit going on. There's three distinct components of this one that seem to work pretty well in collaboration. There's a nice flow from the ashy/smoke to the sweet malts and into the boozier finish. It is drinking pretty nicely right now. Definitely worth trying.
