Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of off-white frothy head which dissipated gently to leave some light lace
Aroma: wood shavings, sweet leather, black anise, sweet earthy character, peat, subtle smoke and a kiss of dark fruits, cocoa nibs far down in there
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to an assortment of different kinds of sweetnesses and adds in a touch of sherry-like dryness; finishes sweet earthy and dry with a combination of cocoa nibs and leather tones
Texture: medium bodied; slightly sessionable; some smoothness with expected dryness, good carb level
Overall: works for me as an Old ale. I would return to this.

Can from Just In Beer, Groningen. Lovely toasted caramel malt aroma with toffee, milk chocolate, notes of dried fruits, soft fudge and liquorice root. Medium sweet flavour, lightly bitter. Body is medium. Very drinkable and easy Old, the malts really shine here.

Can from Systembolaget. Deep, smokey Malts that has more porter vibes than old ale - certainly if English. Quite rough even though it is clearly well made and mature.
