Smell of hops, spices, mulled wine. Ruby red colour, high beige head. Aroma of syrup, pepper, hops, alcohol. Bitter, slightly sweet. Imperial IPA qualities. A bit too stinging with alcohol, otherwise a fine experience.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is hop pellets, rubber, wet leafs, soil, citrus peel, grass. Taste is slightly sweet and harsh grassy, hop pellets, pine needles, leafs, alcohol, grass, cardboard, bark, caramel. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Rating a 2010 bottle that says 8.5% ABV. Aroma is very malty and similar to a barleywine. Lots of caramel and toasted bread with some honey and sherry notes from oxidation setting in. Medium hours but it is fading with more resin and dankness than fruitiness; there is some grapefruit though. Pours a fairly clear brilliant amber-ruby red with a thin slightly off white head that quickly recedes to the edges. Light leaving and faint legs. Flavor is again similar to an aged barleywine. Moderately strong Malt character of caramel, toasted bread and some crackers. Moderate hop flavor of pine resin, dank forest and grapefruit. Bitterness is moderately strong. Light alcohol spice in the finish. Lingering caramel notes and dank, resinous hop character. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Life astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall an alright beer but nothing super special either. The hoops are fading and aster less bright, but they still contribute a lot of character. This really is like a barleywine at this point in time.

Deep amber-copper clear color, good off-white head and lace. Aroma is piney and bready, a touch of alcohol and sweetness too. Medium to full-bodied. Caramel malty backbone and on top resiny-piney hoppyness leading to resiny and slighlty sweet aftertaste. Some saltyness. Sweetness eases the bitterness, drinkability is good. Maybe not as good as score here, but enjoyable.

A beutiful beer, colour is dark red, a head is big and slightly yellow. The nose is tastefull, lots of fruits and fructose, strawberries and some caramell. Against the sweet elements there are also strong hoppyness as a fresh pine forest with some citrusfruits. Taste is powerfull, rich of malts, some fruits, strong piney bitterness, some dry and resiny woods, also hint of caramell. Dryer than I expected after the aroma. Almost full bodied, mild carbonation, smooth to drink, but the strong bitterness punish the mouth. A very good beer, complex with the great balance.

650ml bottle. Wonderful, clear, ruby red colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fully lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Intense, sweaty, resinous and piney hoppy aroma. Taste has a malty basis with a touch of toffee, hints of orange, orange zest, moderately bitter, piney and resinous hoppy overtones. Somehow simple and complex at once. Like all other Alesmith beers known to me, uniquely pure, precise, clean and condensed like the multiple folded forged steel blade of a Japanese knife. Absolutely outstanding.

22 oz. bottle. Hazy amber in color with a thick soapy head that laced the tulip real well. Nose still has lots of pine hops with a hint of citrus even after this bottle being about 10 months old. The malts stick out more now that the hops have subsided just a bit. Caramel sweetness is upfront with the faded, muddled hops of pine and citrus in the background. Still a strong lingering bitterness. Texture is dry and resinous.
