Again, the basic old and young lambic are matured in oak casks. But here we add to one year-old lambic about 400 grams of real cherries per litre. This creates a second fermentation in the casks. Oude Kriek Boon then undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle and has an alcohol volume of 6.5%. After several months, the flavour has matured to the desired taste.
Oude Kriek Boon is a test of your patience. It should lie about 2 years in the bottle. At first, it tastes of fruit, especially sour cherries. Oude Kriek Boon eventually evolves into a deep taste reminiscent of Port or Madeira wine. This is kriek at its best.

Boon Oude Kriek 2013 6.5% A pretty deep purple-pink with a light pink head of foam and has a wonderful tart cherry with almond and musty notes. A sparkling prickly carbonation and rich flavor: sweet maraschino cherries, tartness, almonds and a tangy sour cherry flavor in the finish. Really really nice stuff.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2014. Pours a clear, deep red color with a small, pink head. Sweet aroma of sweet cherries, cherry candy, lemon juice, oak, barn yard and some cinnamon. Equal sour and sweet flavor with additional note of earth. Has a silky mouth feel, and a surprisingly mellow berry bitterness. A well-balanced, tasteful and easy-drinking kriek.
