This beer is a response to the very bitter beers that are being brewed all around the world at present. In this case, the denomination IPA does not stand for India Pale Ale, but for Incredible, Powerful & Amazing. Instead of mostly American hops, 7 Flemish hops from the Westhoek region have been used. Obviously, the taste is very bitter, but the beer has a “balance” that makes it very drinkable and invites you to have another round.

(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 14 Oct 2015) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried apricots, resin and orange peel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, candy sugar, resin and a balanced citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty IPA with a generous, but slightly harsh, hop character. Nice one.

Tap at Wine no Ooji-Sama in Nara. 450¥ for a small wine glass(820¥ large). An opaque orange gold with a thick dense head of beige foam. Big perfumey fruity aroma with the yeasty bready character of a belgian beer. Light bodied with a fruity bitter grape flavor & some floral notes. Alright and it hits the spot after lunch.

Bottle, 7%. Fruity, sweet, and caramelly aroma. Cloudy golden colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is fruity with a decent bitterness. Hoppy fruitiness. Good bitterness and very mild hop bite. A little yeasty finish. Refreshing.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of malt and fruit, with notes of yeast and subtle touches of hops. Sweetish flavour of malt and fruit, with intense, bitter hoppy notes and touches of citrus. Lingering, bitter and citric aftertaste. Lively carbonation. Reasonable, if somewhat out of balance.

Bottled@Tuulensuu, Tampere (old backlog). Hazy goldeny orange colour with a small foamy head. Aroma is sweet malts, sugar, some floral and grassy notes along with mild yeasty/spicy notes. Flavour is very similar, with the floral and grassy side being more evident. The hop profile works well with the spicy/yeasty notes.

Bottle. A hazy, dark golden-orange beer with a small, off-white head. There’s a touch of booze on the nose, with orange hints, sugary pale malts, herbal hints and pine cones. The flavor is quite sweet, with sugary maltyness, herbs and some pine cones. Decent bitterness. Full body and pleasant carbonation, some warmth. Lasting bitter finish with pine cones, herbs and some grass. Decent, but rather weird. 150314

Bottle from Elie. Many thanks. Golden colour, white foam. Malty body with hoppy aftertaste. Some strange off flavours but not a bad beer. Easy drinkable. Ok. Not really an IPA.
