This beer is a response to the very bitter beers that are being brewed all around the world at present. In this case, the denomination IPA does not stand for India Pale Ale, but for Incredible, Powerful & Amazing. Instead of mostly American hops, 7 Flemish hops from the Westhoek region have been used. Obviously, the taste is very bitter, but the beer has a “balance” that makes it very drinkable and invites you to have another round.

Bottle. Golden, yellow and fuzzy, big white head. Aroma is very grassy, a bit strange. Taste is very grassy and aromatic, the Westhoek hops are very present, a bit too dominant actually. Bitter and dry aftertaste. Like a Hommel on steroids.

Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a frothy warm cap that stays, leaving some soapy lace. Sweet-and-light sour aromas with some fruits, grass, honey and Belgian yeast. Hoppy taste of grass, but not your typical American one. Notes of oranges. Interesting, but not one I would have again. I like Belgian IPA, but this is not one of them. The balance is a little all over the place.

Licht bruin troebel bier zonder schuim. Smaak is hoppig bitter en kruidig met sporen van sinaasappel en kaneel. Blijft lang hangen. Geweldig goed bier.

Huge offwhite lasting head shrinks into ice cream shapes. Clear deep yellow body. Wooden resiny aroma with spicy fruity notes. Dry-bitter dried fruit and funky resin taste with waxy notes. Mid-bodied. Dry resiny spicy aftertaste with butterscotch and honey notes. Nice and surprising. Very different. (0.25l draft at Heeren van Liedekercke, Belgium.)

(Keg at One Pint Pub, 20140727) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, Belgian style yeast and hops. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, Belgian style yeast, fruitiness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. Not bad Belgian style IPA. Bit one dimensional with very dominating hoppiness.

Fairly estery, hoppy nose. The mouth is way too simple and unimpressive. This does nothing for me.

Bottle shared. Pours cloudy golden with a big off white head. Aroma is bready, caramel and biscuity malt. Flavour is light moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with light carbonation. A bit lacking in hop aroma but maybe the bottle isn’t fresh enough.
