3/III/2012 on cask @ ACBF (Moen) - BB: n/a (2012-189)

Clear dark brown to black beer, no head, small white rim. Aroma: very fruity, pineapple, passion fruits, mango, strawberries and raspberries, forest fruits, syrupy. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, mango, pineapple, bitterness. Aftertaste: fruity, dry bitter ending. I wouldn't be able to tell it's a black IPA though.

Bottle 500ml @ yngwie
Pours deep reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, grape, citrus and orange. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Cask@King William IV, London. Dark ambery copper colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is dark fruits, caramel, mild toast, some earthyness as well. Flavour is much the same. Rather sweet as for the flavour.

Cask at the brewpub. Near black. Grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet with medium-full body, rounded mouthfeel. Intense salty grapefruity hops, chocolatey malt. Long, remarkably bitter finish.

Bottle at home 01/12... thanks to james ... deep brown ... small off white head ... big juicy pine hop and roast malt nose ... light bitter pine hop front ... juicy malts ... light body (what makes the difference between black IPA and Hoppy stout for me) light oilyness ... little mandarin ...little soapy ... but all round not bad cask at King William 08/11 dark black ... thin tan head .. zezty ... big sweet woodty toffe malt ... big pine ... juicy ... light body ... little soapy ... great fruityness bottle at home 05.12... deep black ... small head ... zezty dry woddy nose ...light bitter woody front ... soft pine ... light soapy ness ... dark woody malts .. still very good 3.7 but a little better fresher

Should be aliased to Black IPA IMHO!
Opaque black beer, decent pale tan head. Dry palate, slightly soft. Smooth dark malt, roast and bitterness free! Nice piney hops with a trace of tropical fruits - domintaed by that Galaxy earthy mango. Dry finish with some hop bitterness and a little dark malt bitterness finally emerging with some malt cream keeping it company!. Nice!

Brodies Birthday Fest at the King William. Think this was labelled ’American Black’? Opaque black beer that shows some red - brown at the edges. Residual tan head. Smooth palate with a tiny bit of carbonation. Smooth dark malt, robust but not bitter or roasty. Piney hops but the Galaxy hops also provide fresh zingy tropical fruits. Semi dry finish. A rich and tasty Black IPA and I thoroughly enjoyed my pint and the sneak preview of this the previous night - Cheers Jonathan!

Keg at Mason & Taylor (7% and named Dalston Black IPA). It pours very dark brown, with a ruby tinge and a thick creamy beige head. The nose is charcoal, resin and aniseed. The taste is resin, wood, charcoal, burnt caramel, salted liquorice, well hidden alcohol, roasted malt and a touch of smoke, with a big bitter-dry finish. Full body, fine carbonation and good balance. Really tasty stuff.
