Smoke, Peat and a touch of caramel flavors, this beer is truly unique. True to style, the hop bittering, hop flavor and hop aroma are nearly non-existent. For reasons we cannot fathom, this style of beer (strong scotch ale or “wee heavy”) is not too popular in America but had enormous popularity in the United Kingdom dating as far back as the 1700’s.

Light peat and some leather. Fig. Dark brown pour with decent head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Earthy kind of spirit. Tap at brewery.

On tap at Wakefest. Pours a dark brown with small beige head.The aroma is strong peat, spice, wood. Thin body, similar flavors to nose, light dry finish, good.
