Forged from the finest Maris Otter malt and a special blend of American hops. The nose is of fresh citrus and berry fruits with a smooth juicy malt character and deceptively moreish finish that belies its strength.

12/6/2018. Cask at the Five Swans, Newcastle. Pours almost clear golden colour with a small creamy white head. Aroma of hops, fruit, grass, flowers and malt. Light sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Decent level of hoppy and fruity bitterness to finish. Grower.

Cask at The Pennsylvanian (Spoons), Rickmansworth, Herts. A golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Vague hoppy, citrus aroma. Tastes slightly hoppy, citrus and very bitter indeed. Not one I'll bother with again.

Fra håndpumpe påmThe Mossy Well, Muswell Hill (London), mars-17: klar lys gylden med ok skum. Lys malt, honning, citron og appelsin i aroma og smak. I tillegg en touch av granskudd. Fin munnfølelse, behagelig bitterhet i avslutningen, lettdrikkelig.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of orange pith, grain and lime. Flavour of pale malt, grassy hops and orange. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel Soft fizz. An exceptionally clean Pale Ale. This reminded me of Fyne Ales’ Hurricane Jack.

Bottle. Asda. Bright gold. Barely a head. Aroma is all buttery, malty nonsense. A bare trace of hop. Taste is sweet, then bitter. Hard to elaborate on. Chewy palate. Cask at the White Lion, Bridgnorth. Mid gold. Apple, astringency, slight tropical fruit cocktail aroma. Bitter taste with sweet edges. Key lime pie, pineapple. Fuller palate than would normally be expected with a pale ale. This is an iconic ale, and while better than most does not quite live up to the almost reverential reputation. Damn good though.
