Red Rye IPA. Some beers are hop centric, others malt centric, our Red Rye IPA is a tightrope walk between the two, big chewy malt flavours balanced against tropical hops and bitterness, complex with a hint of pepper from the Rye malt.

500ml bottle from BeerRitz online store. Reddish dark brown amber colour, foam off-white head that retains with some lacing and aroma of caramel, tropical fruits, hop resin. Taste is sweet biscuity malt, caramel, toffee with berry fruity hoppy light grapefruit bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

On tap at Red Squirrel. Pours chestnut brown, little to no head. Dull toffee nose, light fruit. Taste has more of the same, light sweet toffee. Hint of pine bitterness at the end. Not a lot going on.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark chestnut brown, with a smoky bitter aroma. Taste is nutty and smoky with a plummy juiciness and a touch of caramel and teasing bitter finish. Very nice.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed at Little Meadow campsite, Bredon, Worcs, Friday 20th September 2013 Pours dark amber/brown, hoppy with a light citrus bite, juicy with a middling bitter finish. A huge improvement on the Atlantic Blue which was pretty boring however this isn’t great by Redwillow standards. A6 A3 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2

Bottle, 5.4%. Good fruity hop aroma. Almost clear brown amber colour. Big stable tan head. Good roasted flavour with a distinct bitterness. Well-balanced between the roasted malts and a mild malty sweetness.
