Old Peculier is a beautiful, yet very simple beer, brewed using a very generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley with two bitter hops combined with the majestic and noble ‘Fuggle’ hop to produce a beer of awesome full-bodied flavour with subtle cherry and rich fruit overtones.

Bottled 500ml. -Thx to Alberto from CK Vis for sharing this one with me. Clear copper coloured, medium sized pale brown head, malty nose with touch of chocolate. Mild roasted malt, caramel and hops with notes of milk chocolate and dark fruits. Pleasant bitter finish, nice beer. 5.6%

Bottle @ London. Thanks a lot Sønder. Pours deep amber brown with a small creamy lasting head and lacings. Very handsome. Nose & taste is dark fruit, chocolate and caramel. Flavor is smooth and has a great vinousness. Full bodied. Very pleasant and tasty.

Bottle. Deep ruby coloured pour with a decent beige head. Sweet, dark fruit aroma. Tastes pretty sweet with a definite banana taste, rich, dark fruit, caramel. Very smooth. Nice ale but it’s even better on cask.

500 ml bottle, thanks to my beerpal Egil. ABV is 5.6%. Very dark reddish brown colour, big beige head. Nice aroma of malts (some of them apparently lightly roasted), vinous notes, dark fruits and berries. The flavour is rich and malty with just a mild roastiness, perfectly balanced by fruity hops with berry notes. Not an extreme beer in any way, other than being "extremely good".

Bottle thanks to thirdeye11. Pours with an off-white head and a clear brown body. Aroma of caramel and brown sugar. Taste is caramel with a ton of fruity esters and brown sugar. Light carbonation.

Pours a dark brown but seems to have very little head from the bottles I drank. Taste is an excellent blend of barley and malts, some sweetness. A very good ale to drink down all day and all night.

[Bottle from Asda, High Wycombe, 5/6/2009] Pours an opaque ruby-brown with a thin beige head. Smells rich, malty and inviting - you can imagine following this around like the Bisto kid follows gravy! Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with just enough of a prickle to prevent it becoming cloying. An oaky flavour at first, then cocoa, with vinous hints behind and some roasty malts to finish. A very good, mellow, relaxing beer which (like Jennings Snecklifter and many of Adnams’ beers) challenges CAMRA’s perception that bottled beer needs bottle-conditioning to be good. 7/3/8/3/15 [Re-rate 8/4/2012, Bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave - cheers] Deep brown, thick beige head, light fizz. Sweet chocolate & coffee balanced by just the right amount of roasted malt bitterness. Just a little liquorice too. A little thin, but otherwise a great beer & oddly superior to the cask version. 7/4/8/3/16

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small off white head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a dark fruit malt with raisin and licorice. Thin mouthfeel with a bitter fruit prune with a lingering yeasty finish. A strange old ale but easy to drink from Theakston.
