First brewed in Tacuba, Mexico in 1925, Modelo Negra, formerly Negra Modelo, is a medium-bodied lager with slow-roasted caramel malts brewed for a rich, smooth taste. Brewed longer to enhance its flavors, Modelo Negra redefines "Dark Beer" because it is exceptionally drinkable and remarkably smooth. This Munich Dunkel-style Lager is brewed with galena and super galena hops as well as caramel malt, black malt and two and six row malt barley. These ingredients are meticulously brewed together to give Modelo Negra that bright, rich, amber hue and that iconic, medium-bodied flavor.

355ml bottle from Bien Manger. Dark amber brown colour, tan foamy head leaving some lacing and aroma of malt, caramel, bready & nutty with metallic hints. Taste is malty, corn grain, sweetish, toasty, light roast with cardboard hint and some metallic bitterness. Medium bodied, high carbonation, dry slightly roasty bitter finish. OK.

6 week old bottle A: Poured clear deep orange brown with a short tan head that held up for a couple minutes the fell to film. S: Roasted malt, chocolate and a suggestion of orange. T: Thin flavors of chocolate and orange with some corn and maybe a hint of coffee at the end. M: Thin to watery with spritzy carbonation and dry rough finish. O: Nice to revisit this but there's not much flavor especially at 5.4%.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with brief, frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, raisins and some orange peel. Malty taste with notes of caramel, crisp-bread, dried fruit, raisins, chocolate, orange peel and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly exciting, but flawless and quite tasty. Enjoyable.

Pours a dark, clear brown with a thick white head. Aroma of yeast and CO2. Tastes like a wheat beer with slight dark notes. Palate includes nuts, bread, very mild earth tones. Somewhat watery. Altogether, far better than I expected and not a bad beer in the slightest.

Amber color with tan head. Crisp, malty aroma, slightly bready. Moderately hoppy bitter flavor dominates but finishes with caramel sweetness. Easy drinking for a dark lager.
