Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

0.65l bottle shared with my girlfriend at our hotel room in Barcelona. It says that it was bottled on October 14th 2013, so I guess this is one of those futuristic beers that only will be available in the future. This is a blurry near copper colored one with a small sidesticking light lacing off-white head. The aroma is quite fresh and hoppy. I also get some sweet caramel, fruity peach and a good amount of citrus. Light as a cloud in texture and it has a average to soft carbonation level. The taste is dominated by citrus and thin caramel. Also some peachy fruitiness here. So easy drinkin' this. Fruity finish with tones of pear and passion fruit in the aftertaste. Great divide does it again. Really good! 08.08.2012

650 ml bottle bought by my father @ De man van Drank, Rotterdam, and consumed on January 26. Pours clear pale amber with a white head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass while dissipating . Smell is packed with citrus fruits like grapefruit, orange and lemon zest and tropical fruits like mango, pineapple and papaya. Very nice and fresh. Taste is fresh and bitter with pine, mango, pineapple and grapefruit. Mouthfeel is slightly watery. Finish is bitter with lemon zest and orange zest. I had expected something with more depth so I find myself a bit disappointed. It’s still a good beer though.

22 ounce bottle with green foil over the cap, bottled on 9/30/2011. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with incredible retention that reduces to a thick lacing cap that lasts. Good amount of lacing clings to the glass, with plenty of carbonation streaming up from the bottom. Aromas of huge fresh orange zest, lemon, pine, grass, light caramel, breadiness, and light spiciness. Very nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of big orange, lemon, pine, grass, biscuit, and spiciness. Good amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, grass, pine, biscuit, and spiciness on the finish for a while. No alcohol noticed at all except for a slight warming after the finish. Great balance of bitterness and sweetness. Medium carbonation and body with a slightly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel. Overall this is definitely an excellent fresh hopped pale ale. Very drinkable with nice flavor balance.

Bomber. Deep golden body with a big, frothy off-white head. The wet hopping dominates the aroma. Raw, leafy, grassy hop, citrus, toasted bread, resin, grapefruit. the flavor is moderately and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Fresh hop taste lingers into the finish. Not dramatically different than lots of fresh APAs, but this beer does a great job of keeping everything in balance. These beers sometimes have way too much raw plant flavor. This doesn’t. Good beer.
