This full-flavor winter bock has a sweet, powerful and warming character thanks to its combination of malt, caramel and a hint of star anise. The beer has a full-bodied, velvety taste and a lovely long finish.

Previously called Vuur + Gloed

De fluweelzachte winterbock geeft door de zoete tonen van steranijs en karamel een krachtig en verwarmend gevoel.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, spices, anise, caramel, dark chocolate, liquorice, cinnamon, dark fruity notes. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. I’m not usually a fan of spiced ’winter ales’, but this one had a good malty liquorice backbone with a pleasant touch of chocolate at the end. Well made.

Thuis uit een flesje. Donkerbruin, tegen zwart aan. Goed bruin schuim. Wat citrus in de geur, volle goede smaak, fris, ook caramel. Lekker bier.

On tap at Stadsbrouwhuis, Leiden - Hazy amber body, thick off-white topper. Nose is warming winter-spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, a little caramel there as well. Taste is as warming as promised, aniseed pokes its nose in, a little sweet, but really does give you a little gloed.

Clear deep dark amber brown colour, large creamy beige head, diminishes slowly, sticky lacing. Aroma roasted malt, liquorice anise, some caramel, candy sugar, light citrus. Taste medium to light heavy sweet and medium bitter, smoky notes, light anise. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste bittersweet, liquorice notes, smokiness which becomes more intense after a while, interesting, very nice.
