Bottle. Clear, brown like root beer. Small light tan head. Aroma, sassafras, and what ever else in root beer. Taste is like root beer.

Bottle at 2/$1 at local Dollar Tree. Pours brown with a decent beige head that rapidly fizzed away. Smells like root beer. Med minus body. Tastes like root beer. A bit sweet, but not overly sugary. Carbonation is not strong. Decent for what it is.

12 ounce bottle, 6/13/16. Dark brown with a thin fizzy head. Poor retention. Aroma of root beer, mild birch and a hint of vanilla. The taste is root beer, vanilla, soy, dark fruits. Thin, slightly tart in a way that is offputting.

Bottle - pours brown - nose and taste of root beer, sarsaparilla and the like-lighter medium body

bottle - Like the other hard root beer I’ve had, it pretty much looks, smells, and tastes like root beer. It’s sweet though maybe not quite as sugary sweet as Not Your Father’s Root Beer. It’s fairly low on carbonation. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. It’s alright.

Treated as a root beer with alcohol, this was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a light rimmed cap of a tan head. Light rings of lacing slide into the beer.
The smell had the qualities of a root beer, subtle cream soda but then the plastic sugary aroma that was mostly displeasing.
The taste was mainly the same overly sweet sugary plastic syrup flavor. Strong sticky overly sweet aftertaste leads into the same finish.
On the palate, it sits pretty light on the body with a crushable sessionability. One could really go apeshit on a four pack of this. Carbonation sits super low and makes me wonder, whoah, hey Nelly, this is a beer.
Overall, the feel is the best thing about it and that’s not saying much. Nice to try, but can’t see myself ever coming back to it.

Wow, I’m surprised at this. A few years ago SA made a hard root beer that was pretty tough to drink. This though, it a lot closer to regular root beer. The smell is virtually indistinguishable, clear sassafras nose, with a caramel or some vague fermented note. The flavor is a bit funky, sassafras but a heaviness and bitterness you don’ t usually find in root beer, herbal notes linger a long time. It’s really hard to make up my mind on the flavor, it’s nice and refreshing for a hot Florida afternoon, maybe best drunk ice cold right from the bottle. But the bitter herb is just one component of the flavor I can’t fully embrace. Brown cola color, foamy beer-like head.
