Multiples on draught at Armbsy, 1/30/16.
Moderately to lightly hazy, copper-golden body shows a little bit more darkness than their typical all pale IPA. Head is white and large, showing strong retention.
Quite dank and earthy in the nose, not at all an explosively juicy or hugely citric/piney nose. Certainly a touch of orange rind and light pine, but no heavy resin, with lightly sweet pineapple and more easygoing floral, skunk and light garlic/green onion. A weird one, for sure, but it’s oddly endearing and opens up nicely and not aggressively as it warms. Malts show light bread, caramel and a fair amount of honey with no alcohol or flaw noted.
Sweeter than their average IPA, but with enough backing bitterness to balance. Still perfectly well-attenuated, with lots of green onion, juicy fruits and soft piney bitterness on the end. Earthy and bready notes apparent as well. Very easygoing and continued to impress more and more with warming. Definitely a departure from a lot of the big juice machine IPAs, which is a nice change of pace. Maybe a touch too sweet overall and a bit loose on the carbonation/texture.

Glass at Hill Farmstead
A - Reddish orange cloudy with a 2 finger solid white head good lacing. Looks like an orange smoothie with whip cream topping
S - Smells really nice. A good blend of a lot of very tropical citrus aromas.
T - Is this a west-coast IPA? Turbid, juicy, very piney, like tannic wood. A little sweetness with the finish being like tree bark, pine cone, grapefruit skin.
M - Mouthfeel is decadent almost. Creamy, tight bubbles. dry. really good.
O - A mid-range new IPA for me. Great by most brewery standards but just ‘good’ by HF standards. There’s so much flavor going on.
