This deep mahogany red strong ale is a classic example of a winter warmer that’s high in alcohol and rich in taste. An excellent balance of malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness, gives aromas of Christmas cake with hints of black treacle and vine fruits.

Smell of tar, ash, some licorice. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of tar, rubber, roasted malt, herbs. Medium bitter. Was also expecting some sweetness. Medium carbon, slightly ashy palate.

Deep nutty color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium (+) body and an ok carbonation for a beer like this. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Ok complexity in the flavor. Toffee, bready, dried fruits and some chocolate.

Pours black with a thin tan head quickly reduced to a ring of foam. A little lacing. Roasted malt, coffee. Taste: Bittersweet chocolate, a bit of coffee. Low but pleasant carbonation level. Pretty easy drinking.
