A Russian Imperial Stout is one of the most intensely flavored beers a brewer can create. The combination of rich roasted barley, oak, molasses and liquorice root combine to create an utterly unique and complex imperial stout.

355ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, brown head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and oak. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, licorice, bitter coffee, tobacco and oak with a dry, alcohol warming finish. Full body with a thick, creamy, smooth texture and soft carbonation. Delicious.

New discovery of the brewery and the beer from my nearest craft beer shop in Odessa, TX. I purchased a four pack of 12 oz cans, hope I enjoy them all. The tab is lifted and the brew is poured into my New Belgium .47l snifter. The obsidian black body comes out like a delivery of 10/40W oil and leaves a very healthy oak brown head. I take a smell of the contents, chocolate, vanilla, raspberry and caramel, rather promising. On to more important matters, a drink, hey there, really good. Charcoal, black cherry, burned oak, toffee and baker's chocolate. Nicely bitter and the alcohol is totally covered. Definitely a keeper..

Can/Fest. A- Licorice, cocoa, almonds, molasses. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Leather, char, roasty, licorice, cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, rich finish. O- Lots of earthy flavors, especially on the palate. Nose was surprisingly a bit light but still nice. Didn't realize this was in cans. They had it listed as a Barrel Aged version but I am assuming this is the only Outer Darkness and it's already aged. Good stuff.

Pour is a motor oil thick black with a small tan head. Aroma is a big charred malt with some molasses and a big alcohol as well. Flavor is a big burnt sugar with some molasses and some maple syrup. The alcohol does not show up like the aroma let on that it would but it still gives a nice warming feeling in the chest. Pretty good Impy stout. Plenty of charred malt, molasses like sugar with a warming alcohol.

From a can. Pours thick and black with a tan head. The head is foamy, modest lacing. Aroma is primarily bacon and bitter chocolate. Taste is bittersweet, trending bitter at the finish. Amid subtle cherry hints are plenty of smoke, bacon, and chocolate. Body is thick and chewy. A rich and complex brew.
