750 mL bottle from Discount Beverage, 12/9/16. Near black, thin head. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, chocolate, nuts, herbal hops. The taste is milk and dark chocolate, herbal hops, roasted, molasses, burnt sugar, hints of cherry. Slick, medium-full bodied, mild booze. Quite nice.

750 ml foiled bottle from StefanSD for free beer week. Aroma is tobacco, licorice, vanilla, light roast. Pours black with a large tan head with great retention and lace. Seems pretty average for an impy, but it’s definitely tasty.

750 mL bottle, best before 2 March 2016. Plack, with a big, foamy, brown head. The nose is caramelized sugar, black coffee, bitter chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Sweet up front, with a strong bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, sticky, and clingy. This is a big, cloying, malt bomb, but the bitterness balances out pretty well.

Bottle shared last night at the meeting. Solid black color, roasty chocolate and earth, nice stout!

Bottle from 2012, thanks to Bacterial. Pours inky black, large creamy brown head, slowly dissipates leaving nice clingy lacing behind. Aroma is quite roasty, chocolate truffles, molasses, tobacco and a touch of anise. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, rich and flavorful, lots of chocolate and molasses, anise is fortunately muted, some tobacco as well, dark almost burned roasty malts. Not a lot of acidity, which is nice. Lingering molasses and anise in the mouth. Not getting a lot of wood aging influence, but a really nice beer nonetheless. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle - Molasses, liquorice and soy sauce. Inky black with a small light brown head. Tons of liquorice and booze. As much as I am not a liquorice fan, this works.

From the July 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy beige head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was toasty malts, black licorice, wood, chocolate and coconut. The flavor was bitter dark chocolate, toasty malts, red wine, wood and coconut. Long finish of chocolate, red wine and coconut. Thick and smooth though undercarbonated. Excellent.
