Pours murky brown from the bottle. A light tan head lingers for much of the duration. Aroma is sweet red grape juice, yeast and spice. Taste is brittle bittersweet without much overall depth. A touch of fruitiness, some yeasty bready notes, and then something like watered down pure alcohol. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Drinkable for sure but not particularly refreshing or exciting.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beermerchants...or maybe Kris Wines. Aged two+ years. Pours mostly clear amber with a creamy, tan head that quickly settles into a film, leaving moderate lacing. Lightly tangy fruits in the nose, berries, figs, some brown bread, toasted sugars, toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavour (but not cloying), with somewhat sugary and lightly doughy bread, more toffee, gooey caramel, dates and figs, very mild earthy bitterness. Full bodied with average to lively carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, with ripe, lightly tangy and leathery berries, faint metal, old wood, more toffee, bread, dates. It hits all the right notes, although perhaps not with much gusto.

Dark caramel look with a very fine head that gives way to an even finer lacing. Smells like a Belgian ale aright, with dark fruit and strawberries and caramel and all that. The taste follows through, with caramel, toffee, strawberry jam and a bitter hop aftertaste. Decent dubbel, I’d say.

Bottle from Damian. Quite good beer executed true to style. Lightly hazy brown colour and a soft head with moderate duration. Rich malty character with dried fruits and caramel flavours, only subtle yeasty spiciness and bitterness in the background. Balanced and relatively easy drinking for a 7,5% ABV beer. Alcohol hidden well.
