Milk stout is in a widely drunk beer in Great Britain, but it remains unknown in the Netherlands. This beer is full and malty in flavour, and also happens to have the lowest alcohol percentage of all the beers from our brewery. Milk sugar (lactose) is used to give this beer its distinct sweetness.

Bottle 750ml. @ [ Tasting by Fin & Loz ].Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, light metalic. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, dark sweet malt, sweet milk - sugar. 750mL bottle that was gifted by Jan from De Bierkoning. Poured into a De Molen tuliped-cordial glass (white lettering) that I purchased from De Bierkoning. I carried the bottle around in a bag for a few hours, so it was pretty shook-up when I was opening. That may have led to the explosive cork. While I kept it under control, the beer was only start to slightly gush. But past the shaking, the beer was highly carbonated which led to a giant head. The body is black. Aroma is not sweat, a drier aroma, faint ash, and water dark malts. Beer is well attenuated from the non-lactose sugars. The lactose is prominent and the centerpiece. So, its sweet but lactose only. Flavor fades quickly. Its great if you want a milk stout. Love the label.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Almost black with a red hue, thin creamy beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, coffee and cream, bit of moccha, a bit sweet. Flavour is coffee and cream, sweet, hard roasted bitterness, bitter coffee finish with some sugar. Light bodied. Typical for the style (milk stout), well made I think.

Wooden cask @ In De Wildeman’s 25th anniversary beer-symposium (as De Melkman). Almost black color with beige head. Real milk stout aroma, with lactose and roasted malts. Rather sweet flavor, but not overly so. Rather thick mouthfeel for a beer this strength. Finishes with more roast. Quite enjoyable.
