Milk stout is in a widely drunk beer in Great Britain, but it remains unknown in the Netherlands. This beer is full and malty in flavour, and also happens to have the lowest alcohol percentage of all the beers from our brewery. Milk sugar (lactose) is used to give this beer its distinct sweetness.

Tap @ de Prael. Slight hazy dark brown color, short head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee with a hint of lacitc acid. Soft bitter taste, roasty, coffee again, soft sweetness. Easy drinker. Very nice stuff actually.

(Draught at De Prael Proeflokaal, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2013) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, liquorice, dark bread and a certain sweetness in a finish with a mild, roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Nice one.

0.33l bottle from the gift shop. Just had to get this as it was the only bottle left that was label-less. Black as the night with a impressive big tan top that sticks around. On the nose it's subtle malty burned, some dry chocolate, hints of cardboard and dried black fruits. Not bad, not extreme. It's really low on the carbonation - almost flat with a really gliding mouthfeel. Softly roasted, definitely milky, lactal and a bit sweet, some chocolate with a soft grassy coffee beans-bitterness. Some alcohol in the aftertaste. Easy, not bad. 28.09.2012
On tap @ Bierproeflokaal In De Wildeman. As good as black in the glass, dark brown when holding it against the light with a medium sized brownish top. Smells quite gentle and nice. Some dark cocoa beans, a little bit of salty licorice, cocoa powder and dark roasted malts. It actually smells quite nice this. Somewhat sweet on the taste. Quite nice mouthfeel for such a light beer and the carbonation is soft and almost prickling. I get both vanilla and cocoa cream in the taste. It's really easy to drink, no doubt about that, but still feel like something bis missing in a way. Light roasted but still sweet finish on this and the vanilla is also present in the aftertaste. 26.09.2013

Draught at their own Proeflokaal
Black color; nice beige creamy head. Delicate roasted malt aroma, maybe a bit milky. Moderate roasted malt flavor, pleasant light sweetness, correct bitterness.
Simple but balanced and nice.

330ml unlabeled bottle [Thanx Tanja & Verena]. Dark brown with medium frothy unstable but lacing beige head. Heavy dark malty aroma with hints of roast and cola. Roasty dark malt taste, some decent cola-like sweetness and and ephemeral touch of smoke and ham. [05/05/2012].

On tap at De Prael, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Wednesday 3rd October 2012 Just about as near as you’ll get to black, actually it’s black a slim film sits around the edge. Nourishing, with a milky coffee flavour, a little fizziness on my tongue, a little roastiness and bitterness also. Quite nice. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed Saturday 22.10.11 I picked this up at Bierkoning, Amsterdam, Netherlands, September 2011 Touch metallic on nose, yes it is just a little tinny. Bit sweet and milky in the mouth, my nan would have liked this however whilst ok, it is not really my thing. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Black body, reddish hue, beige head. Aroma of lactose, roasted malts, kvas, milk, roasted, light sweet. Bit mineral. Sweet malty flavour, lactose sweetness, but not overly sweet, and light roasted malts tones. Full body. Short finish, sweet malts, roasted tones.
Enjoyable milk stout.

Draft at De Prael. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Light roasted aroma with a little chocolate. Flavour of malt and chocolate with mild lactose. Slightly higher carbonation than I would expect from a milk stout. Earlier Rating: 11/19/2011 Total Score: 3.3Draft at De Wildeman. Black pour with a tab head. Slightly metallic hay aroma. Flavour is sweet, milky and roasted. Very good for the low alcohol.

Röstiger, sehr süßer, z.T. Zuckriger Beginn, zum Ende dagegen ziemlich trocken. Zuckriger Abgang, entfernt an einen Malztrunk erinnernd. Naja... /8/7/7/11/7
