Bucanero Fuerte gets its name from old legends of the pirates that roamed the Caribbean Sea. Considering that Bucanero Fuerte is one of the best hidden treasures of Cuban beer, this connection is fitting. Strong and full-flavored, Bucanero Fuerte is made from the most natural and freshest ingredients, with superior malt and is blended with just a touch of Cuba’s finest sugars. Having more alcohol, a deeper amber color, and a refreshing taste makes Bucanero Fuerte a remarkably 100% original Cuban beer. Over the years Bucanero Fuerte has become a favorite amongst Cubans as a beer to drink with friends while playing domino’s or watching a baseball game. It is quickly proving itself to be a timeless classic. Bucanero brings the mystery and passion of Cuba in a golden beer, with a vigourous and robust flavour. Our ancient and secret production process combines the finest selection of hops, water and malt. Ingredients: water, barley malt, brown sugar, hops.

33cl bottle pours with a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a thin white head of foam. The modest aroma is pretty sweet and emits malts, hay like notes and table sugar. The taste starts with sugar sweetness and is lightened up by carbonation that enhances a vague hop bitterness. It gets a little grainy here and there. Into the finish it actually has a bit of a hop bite that keeps the sweetness in check. Not something I would seek out or even try again but this seems to be drinkable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks kerenmk. As Cubanero Fuerte. Clear deep golden. Aroma of vegetables and some cereals. Sweetish grainy flavor with some corn and a slightly drier husky finish. Light-bodied.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Rasmus40. The legendary CUBA tick. Thanks much, Rasmus! Pours a clear golden appearance with a small white head. A touch spicy, grainy straw, chewy grainy aroma. Fairly easy drinking, light, straw, fairly spicy flavor. Drier and less fruity than some Caribbean ticks. Not horrible.

I remember not even drinking this beer in Cuba because it was more expensive than the other schlock. This smells like trash and tastes like trash. It’s still better than the usually contaminated or flat Hatuey I remember, but that’s not really anything to be proud of. A really sour, swamp water aftertaste in this. Tastes like Guatanamo Bay prison tap water. Brutal.

Aroma is a little musty and taste is immediately tangy/biting. No head to speak of, but ample carbonation. Mouthfeel is right but aftertaste is slightly spicy. Something seems a bit off here...

Flaske på hytta, kjøpt på Gml.Strand Øllager: Interessant å smake på øl fra ukjente ølland, men ut over å være en standard pils byr ikke denne på noe mer. Frisk og syrlig men på ingen måte minneverdig.

0.35l bottle. This is a clear golden with a little hint of darkness and a small quickly fading and sidesticking white lager-head. It smells of mild soft caramel and malts. Perhaps also a hint of sweetness, but that could just as easily be the sunblock.. It has a light and watery mouthfeel with a average+ carbonation level. Flavors are also thin and a bit malty. On the sweet side at first, but gets a more near woody-bitterness towards the finish with a hint of imaginary rum. Quite ordinary, and definitely boring. 06.08.2012
