Bottle. Pours mury briwn with airy off-white head. Cler aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit. Bitter, hoppy flavour, reeplaced by the sweetisg malty, caramel nores. a trifle out of balance but OK on the whole. Decent.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/22/2010 date on the bottom. Pours lightly cloudy light reddish brown color with a nice 2-3 finger fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass; with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, raisin, apple, pepper, clove, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with light-moderate malt balance. Taste of pear, apple, raisin, clove, pepper, floral, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, candi sugar, brown bread, light caramel, floral, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Excellent balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with moderate bready malt balance; with a great spicy ester balance with malt; and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Belgian dark ale! All around great balance and complexity of malt and yeast flavors; very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast and fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is meidum, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Flaske fra skibsrederens egenimport: aroma av korinter og sjokolade. Nydelig rød mahognyfarge med højt cremeskum. Egenartet smak med høy drikkbarhet. Må prøves i Belgia til sommeren!

Bottle from my large stash of Belgians, this one is a few years old. A dark murky brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Sweet, caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes similar, sweet, dark fruit, caramel, spice. Nice Belgian dubbel.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Deep brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with caramel, molasses and berries. Not a standard dubbel at any rate because it’s too spicy, too fruity and not sweet enough but I like it nonetheless. Great, unusual, beer.

Clear dark red brown beer, some beige to brown sediment floating around under a big creamy off-white to light beige head, pretty stable and adhesive. Aroma: grassy hops, pretty dusty, dry, some flowers, bit of citrus, hint of dried fruits. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus, bitter grassy hops, carbon sour, little malty, some grains. Aftertaste: grassy, citrus, pretty bitter hops, hint of dried fruits and caramel, if only very little. Dry bitter ending.

Hazy dark brown colour with a tan head. Yeasty, malty and light fruity aroma. A bit sour, but a fine caramel sweetness goes with it. Light fruity and some raisins. Soft texture.

750 ml bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours a deep murky brown color with a small tan head. A rich sugary and nutty nose. The flavor is a somewhat unusual Dubbel with brown ale elements, very dry, very mellow, dried fruits, toffee, earthy malts. Good.
