Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp who used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops. Dark brown to black colored, medium light beige frothy head, good lacing and lasting. Aroma is of dark malt, chocolate, bit roasted notes and strong citrus and pine resiny hops. Taste is medium sweet caramel and chocolate, some roasted malt, again strong citrus grapefruit and pine hoppy aroma, moderate+ bitterness, bit burnt notes, hoppy and roasty dry bitter finish and lasting aftertaste, dry hopped. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, resiny. As my first BIPA ever, it has a special place reserved. (bottle, Mitra Den Bosch)

Bottle. Darkish brown with a large beige head. Wafty aroma of chocolate, light bread and brioche, with bitter oranges and some tropical fruit floating above. Medium bodied, slightly creamy, moderate carbonation. Leans more towards grassy and tropical fruit in the taste, but there’s still some orange. Classy pale malt and a little chocolate sit underneath. Fairly bitter a the end, with orange peel coming back into play, maybe some pine needles. Lovely beer.

Bottle: Deep, deep ruby-amber coloured, big rocky off-white head; moderate to solid bitter-sweet aroma of dark malt, dried fruits and - mainly - herbal hops with a tinge of cough syrup; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; dried berries, caramel and spicy hops in the finish. Well balanced and complex. Great…

0,5l bottle at dogstar vienna. bb 09/2016. Black colour, small coffee colored head. Smells licorice, spices, earthy, light coffee, a but old hopish. Smell is rather limited, smells a but unclean. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Tastes of cocoa, spices, some light hops, pines, peppery, herbal, some roost, light licorice, light sweetness. Finishes nicely balanced with light bitterness and some roast notes with taste of pines and coffee. Good stuff, unfortunately does not seem to be very fresh, but at least the taste was nice. would love to try fresher..

Bottle from Beers’n’more. A BIPA that emphasizes the B part a lot, but still it’s clear that this is in IPA in its heart. Nice roast aromas, some liquorice and chocolate.
