Draught at Captain Cook, Östersund. A really delicious porter. Love it when a porter comes off well, and if I wasn’t so full when drinking it, I probably would have loved it even more. A great smooth palate with some spicy chocolate (from the chocolate malts). I think it’s a great porter :)

Oct. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle that poured lightly hazy dark copper hued brown body with smaller brown head. Fine, strong roasted coffee, cocoa and licorice aroma. Flavor was very nice, roasted as well, with cocoa, licorice, some ash in between. Pleasantly rounded, full bodied, with long coffee and cocoa finish muscled up with ash and peat. De Molen spoilt me completely so I expected even more, something amazing and unconventional, but this is a fine porter indeed.

Appearance: Calm enough in the bottle, but when pouring into a glass, mostly creamy tan head appears. Later very dark brown liquid appears...
Aroma: Dark malt, metal, roasted.
Taste: Dark malted, roasted, slight sweetness. A bit one-dimensional. Slight bitterness.

Het bier geprobeerd met Roelzie1986 bij het Boshuys in Best. Het is een porter achtig bier met een lichte gebrande smaak en een hint van caramel.

Surged out of the bottle, brown, with a large tan head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate with hints of coffee and a noticeable vinous note - in the direction of a pale sherry. This is a nice start. First impression upon sipping is an above average carbonation for a beer that describes itself as "porter-ish". This eventually settles down, but works in my opinion to disrupt rather than accentuate the flavors that follow. The taste is dry with lots of toast, some coffee, and a mild roasted bitterness going into the finish. Pleasant. The body is medium, and there is a faint warmth. (We are only at 5.2ABV). The taste and body may not live up with to the delectable aroma, but this is still very pleasant sipping.
