Brewing this beer is not only science it’s a shart.
For the most part a double strength Belgian IPA aged with toasted American oak. This ale has a base of pale ale, aromatic, and caramel malts, upon which is set an American hop triumvirate of Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade. The addition of Belgian Abbey ale yeast provides a spicy, earthy, breadlike character that is truly unique. Lemon and grapefruit zest enhance the citrusy and piney American hop character, and the oak dries the beer out and adds aromatic qualities. 21°

On tap at CBC, pour a hazy orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma of pungent tropical fruits, resinous hops and a big caramel malt backbone. Flavour is very sweet for a DIPA, with loads of caramel malts which outdo the resinous hops by too much. Very round, but too malty and syrupy for the style. Decent, but off the mark.
