Named after a famous local mountain – Schiehallion (pronounced ‘She-hal-i-on’) presented a huge challenge – creating a Pilsner the Czech would be proud of. Brewed with lager malt and Hersbrücker and Challenger hops. Fermented with a lager yeast.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Pours clear gold with a tight, creamy cap. Aroma holds some doughy, crispy malts. Flavor is pretty sweet, some toasty grains, white sugar, light cereal and hints of rindy, straw bitters. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, crisp finish, some hops on the sides of the tongue, bit of cereal. Not bad, very drinkable.

[Gravity cask at Chippenham Beer Festival] Gold, thin off-white head, slight fizz. Straw, grass & honey. Sweet & smooth with a dry finish. Thought I’d better try as it’s meant to be one of the best examples of the style (and it is better than most lagers), but at the end of the day I don’t like the style much, even good ones like this.

Cask at Paradiso Georgetown. Bright golden color, tiny white head. Aroma of lemon lime. Taste is like a typical lager, nothing too exciting.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with nice white head. Beautiful aroma of crisp hops with delicate floral notes. Medium body and medium carbonation. Lovely tangy fruity (stone fruit and lychee perhaps?) refreshing start with long steadily evolving good bitter finish. An excellent beer.

0.5l bottle @ Biskopen, Bergen. Pours a semi clear pale body with a almost non excising thin lacing head. Some fruity nose, and some thin faint hops. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Instant small bitter, citrus and malts. Hints of yeast and bitter grapefruit twist. Nice and mild lager. Read this was pronounced as the best lager in the world (on the bottle). Not so sure about that, but it was really not bad.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Strong and bitter like a German lager but with noticeable citrus and an airy light palate.
