Colour hazy deep red brown, large frothy beige head, good retention, good lacing. Aroma roasted malts, licorice, dark fruits, light coffee, light chocolate. Flavour medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter, roasty, spicy notes, medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Bittersweet finish with lingering roastiness; atypical bock but tasty.

Dunkler, wässrig malziger Antrunk. Minimal rauchig, dann röstiger werdend. Wenig süß, etwas bitter. Gelungene Mischung, die aber insgesamt intensiver sein könnte. 8/9/8/8/9/8

Bottom-fermented Dunkelbocks are the norm in Germany, but exceptional in the Dutch bock tradition, which is mostly top-fermented. Thin, bit milky, off-white head, colour a bright bronze, like a German dark bock. Malty aroma with coffee beans, bitter chocolate, liquorice, peat, dates, pepper; dry caramel taste, spicy, dried fruits, nutty maltiness in the middle, finish with roasted bitterness - which frankly I find a bit out of place in this genre. Nevertheless an interesting and tasty beer.

Emelisse is great in tuning up ordinary beer styles. This bock is a bit different from other bocks, all ingredients are a little more tasty and special. Nice.
