Clear brown colour, cream head. Aroma of caramel, malts, coasted malts, light banana, bread. Sweetish caramel flavour, bitter roasted malts, nuts. Bitter finish, caramel. Decent beer, quite nice bock, but I’m not a real big fan of the genre.

Bottle picked up from CF Diesch, Middelburg, Netherlands, Wednesday 2nd October consumed at home Friday 11th October 2013 Pours amber, a little murky with off white head. Taste is sweet with caramel showing. A little chewy it has a warming and autumnal feel to it. Wish it had a little more about it, but its fine. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

33 cl bottle sampled @ Modeste 2013. Dark amber with beige head on sides. Nose is a pretty sweet Dunkler bock with a nice amount of caramel, leaves, brown sugar & herbs. Taste is bitter candy sugar, lager taste with a good chunk of BE yeast, big presence of BE yeast & sweetness makes this feel more BE than DE, bitter herbs, bark, caramel, sweet malts,... Body is creamy, thick malts & sugar but still lager yeast. Interesting but not top take on style.

Bottle from Leiden. Rich chocolate and raisin nose, thick, juicy, caramel, light apple. Dark brown with reddish-orange tints and lace. Sweet, rich, chocolaty. Lots of dried fruits. Thick and full. Very nice, much more like a doppelbock, hits bigger than 6.5% not overly sweet, slightly tannic finish, good earthy bitterness in the finish to balance. Excellent.

Bottle from the brewery. Poured a cloudy medium brown with a broken off-white head. The aroma is rich malt and a little fruit and alcohol. The flavour is medium bitter with loads of roasted malt, liqourice, yeast and alcohol on the rather smooth palate.

Bottled. Murky reddish amber colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some nuttyness, mild caramel and some slight grassyness. Flavour is caramel, bread, some earth, herbs and mild nuttyness. Quite pleasant bock, and actually feels quite much like a lager.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 06/2013, at Pikkulintu, 20130306) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, chocolate and molasses. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were mildly roasted malts, molasses, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Nice but a bit too booze flavoured bock.
