From cask. Pours clear and golden yellow with a fully gone head. Aroma is smooth fruity. Light sweet and fruity flavoured. Bitter. Toasted malty and light caramelish. Bitter and toffee malty into a mild fruity finish.

Cask at the Great Western, Wolverhampton. Clear with a persistent white head. Nutty malt aroma. Grassy assertive bitterness. Mediu, light body. Nutty good bitter.

Have enjoyed many a pint of this during my time living in the West Mids so good to finally catch up with the rate! Cask at the Great Western, Wolvo on the RB Black Country Bus affair - 06/07/13. Clear pale golden with a decent white head. Nose is toasted malts, caramel, grass. Taste comprises bready malts, sugars, caramel, fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bitterness in the finish - in cracking form. A solid bitter!

Black Country Beano. Cask in the Great Western. Clear gold beer, little white head. Light palate, softish and dry. Mellow carbonation. Bitters round here are clearly Goldens! Mellow sweet malt, light lactose. Mellow marmalade hops with a refreshing touch of lemon. Light dry finish.

Cask at Great Western Wolverhampton. Clear gold lasting white head. Decent beer. Nice enough easy drinking bitter. A little light in flavour . Decent toffeeiah Re rate Britainnia good condition good bitterness. Could taste the bitterness running up the road.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines; clear amber pours, white head, malty woody aroma, light bitter taste a bit smokey, buttery malty can’t really fault this classic bitter. Satisfied!

Cask at The Vine, West Bromwich on the evening of the Baggies Chelsea match :-) Poured a clear medium to light amber with a frothy white head and a little broken lace. The aroma is light malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a super smooth rich malt light hop palate and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. If I had to die in the middle of a session this is probably the session beer I’d choose to die drinking. It’s just an English session bitter but these guys do such an amazing job. Cask is MUCH better than the bottled version.

Bottle from Tuckers Maltings. Golden colour, mid-sized white head. Malts start, the Hops grow more important then, dusty, dry hops,especially in the finish. The beer has a slightly bitter-sweet character. Good stuff!

I have drunk this beer in the brewery tap and other well known Black Country Real Ale pubs, always cask. I was very pleased and surprised to find it in a shop window (Tanner’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire). Brown 500ml bottle, best before Feb 2008, drank April 2007. Poured into a sraight sleeve pint glass (what else would you use?). Pale amber, light for an English bitter, but it is known for its brightness and lightness, the small white left before I got my lips to it. The aroma was very floral, freashly cut grass and hops. Lovelly, wonderful, easy drinking bitter-cum-thirstquenching-quaffable-ale. I liked it (a lot). Slight fizz to it, but this is a very, very good, the tastes stay and tickle your tonsels. A fine bottled version of a great West Midlands (Black Country) bitter.

Cask. Clear golden pour with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts and fruit. Flavour is sweet with malt and citrus.
