A dark black beer with a creamy head. Dry touches of coffee (roasted malt) that explain the bitter sip at the end.
The beer was born from a taste memory. A memory of a tour of Yorkshire in the 1970s, and of beers like Theakston’s Old Peculier. Black was developed with British brewmaster Ian Ward from the inspirational experiences of 30 years ago. With Ardennes spring water, Belgian malts, English hops, a slightly higher alcohol content, lightly carbonated and brewed the English way: the perfect example of a mixed marriage.

Dark brown with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and caramel notes. Sweet flavor with hard roasted malt, yeast, caramel and coffee notes.

Bottle 33cl.Light unclear medium brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, raisin, light burnt, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (130608)

Bottle at Chris_o birthday bash 08. Last beer of the day. Coffee, bit stouty, over carbonated. Not wonderful, but ok. Some malt, not much roast.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of joergen. Slightly hazy reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malt and vanilla. Rather malt bitter finish. Lovely - but mostly reminds me of a Stout. 130608

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy and dark brown with a lacing tan head. Mild roasted malt and light spiced. Flavour is roasted malt with nice chocolate smoothness apparently taking out the acidic note from the roasted malt. Mild bitterness into a dry finish.

Small yellow-beige head, some lace; black beer with red highlights. Extremely fruity nose, with brambles, blueberries, blackcurrant, a pinch of pepper & nutmeg, alcohol. Very good and delicate at the same time. Very dry, chalky taste, dried berries this time, black cardemom peel, but also cardboard. Not very well-bodied, bit too-dry-empty. Full of outfermented sugar? Interesting beer, but maybe pushed a bit too far in the dry direction.
