Leffe Ruby is een robijnrood, verfrissend bier dat ontstaan is uit de unieke combinatie tussen het abdijbier, een fijne toets van hout en het delicate aroma van rode vruchten.

Reddish colour of strawberry marmelade. Tall airy off-white head. Lacing present. Nose of strawberry, raspberry, other fruit, grains, corn. Light body. Oily. Medium sweet taste of mentioned berries. Light to medium obvious bitterness. Medium long bittersweet finish. Same aftertaste. The sweetness is a bit exaggerated. Otherwise OK.

F: huge, off-white, long lasting. C: amber to coppery, clear. A: raspberries, strawberries, hint of cherries, some malt, yeast. T: sweet berries, syrupy, some caramel, then some decent bitterness on the palate, light body, good carbonated, I like one comment from rates, β€œit is type of beer for peoples who donΒ΄t like beer”, not catastrophic but not worth to try.

24/XII/15 - 20cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 31/I/16 (2015-1769)

Clear dark orange to pale red beer (was expecting more from a beer that calls itself "ruby"), creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sugary, candy, cherry syrup, artificial flavoured yoghurt. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet, sugary, candy, syrupy. Aftertaste: bit lemony, cherry candy, sugary, sweet.

Bottle, smallish head, clear light red color, aroma of red fruits, flavor of slightly overripe fruits with paper and a little unpleasant almondy bitterness, very light sourness, feels a little heavy. Not too good.

25cL Leffe glass from draft at restaurant in the old medieval city (La Cite) behind the walls in Carcassonne. I had never seen this Leffe variety, which now makes sense since its mainly made for France. Color is reddish hue of brown. As soon as I smelled it I was intrigued. I did not know this was a fruit beer and I was happy with the level of fruitiness. Hazelnut red berries, not artificial, yet earthy. I was actually surprised this was a Leffe brew. Taste is similar malty-lightly-sweet with mild sweet berries that are not artificial. A thicker mouthfeel with some carbonation that breaks it up. A surprising treat that I would definitely drink again. Not sure why all the hate, is it just b/c its Leffe?

BOTTLE 25 CL. Clear ruby, punk sparkling head. No beer in the nose, just some berry juice, elderberries, currants maybe. The taste is sweet and soda water-like, with a pretty bitter finish. Weird and un-beery.

750 ml bottle from Tesco, consumed at home. Brownish pink with some white head on top. Strawberry aroma with hints of cola nut. Nice sweet but not overly invasively sickly taste. The finish is a real let down though: slightly bitter/sour, weak, insipid. Watery body. Carbonation is okay but does little to lift the unfortunate denouement to this otherwise passable beer.

18th Aug 2015: cork and caged 0.75 litre bottle shared with my Son-in-Law. Pinky, reddy body, off-white head, with a pink hue. Raspberry nose and flavour with a strawberry secondary feel. A bit too sweet for me, a ladies beverage in my eyes.
