Barley Wine - som navnet antyder er det en drik af næsten vinstyrke, men blot lavet på bygmalt i stedet for druer. Rig og fyldig med karamelnoter som sig hør og bør for typen, men med tilstrækkelig humle til at holde både sødme og alkohol i skak. Udtrykket "Barrel Proof" kendes fra den amerikanske bourbonindustri, hvor det bruges om en whiskey, der tappes på flaske uden nogen form for fortynding. Og således også med vores Barrel Proof, der har tilbragt 5 måneder netop på bourbonfade og derefter tappet på flaske helt uden svinkeærinder. Resultatet er en øl, der i høj grad er til stille nydelse og fordybning. Og hvad derefter sker, kan vi ikke tage ansvaret for - men vi hører meget gerne om det!

Draught at KØ14. Distinct vanilla aroma. Almost clear dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is slightly sweet with a good toffee and vanilla note. Slightly high bitterness.

Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, dark sugar, mild sweet bourbon, grass, vanilla, oak, almond cake, milk chocolate. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry, oak, grass, alcohol, leafs, caramel malts, citrus peel, hints of minerals. Longlasting bitterness, dry harsh grassy mouthfeel. Fair enough, but not really my cup of tea.

Bottle shared. Pours clody brown with a small tan head. Aroma of overripe dark fruit, woody barrel, toffee, booze and vanilla. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Sample from tap, CBF 2014. Dark, amber colour with a thin, tanned head. Sweet aroma with vanilla, glue - in a pleasant way - rich caramel malts, light toasted malts and alcohol. Bourbon barrel and vanilla. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily texture. Finishes sweet with whiskey barrel and dried fruits.

CBC Session 1. Clear amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth, soft and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Nice malts, little toffee. Light spice. Nice medium - sweet oak and a little dry wood. Spirity dry finish with a toffee and spice linger. Robust and tasty barleywine.

From tap. Pours clear and golden amber to red with a huge off white head. Aroma is mild fruity and toffee malty to caramelish. Sweet caramelish, light wooden and toasted. Lingering sweet malty, light bitterness lurking through.

[5/2/14] Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. 1st session. Clear deep amber-brown with a tan head. Aroma of malt, cookies, wood, some vanilla notes and some chocolate. Sweet flavor, malty, cookie-ish, with vanilla, a bit of chocolate, a bit of bourbon and a slightly drier and slightly boozy finish. Medium to full-bodied.
