The chance to brew with long time idol Alan Sprints of Hair of The Dog is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Maja is a bourbon barrel aged barleywine brewed with maple syrup, lactose sugar and vanilla beans. Conceptually you could call it a “maple muffin barley wine”.

Sampled from tap at Borefts 2017. Hazy, golden amber with an off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, honey, vanilla and raisins. Very sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of caramel, honey, vanilla and raisins, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, rather warming-alcoholic finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!

Looks like dish water with a soapy head. Aroma and flavour are sweet and boozy. Really thick texture.

At tasting. Bottle. Aroma of booze, peach, orange, caramel and sugar. Taste has sweet sugary malt, bourbon vanilla, honey, no maple, booze and raisin. Watery body. Expected more from this.

8 2 8 2 16 Draft at Borefts Beer Festival '17. Hazy orange brown with no head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, molasses, caramel and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet. Medium bodied with a watery texture and near flat carbonation.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled draft @ Borefts 2017. Day 2. Orange amber, hazy. Nose is vanilla, sugar, caramel, candy sweet maple. Vanilla seems to be largely just the bourbon. Lacks some carbonation which makes it a touch watery, really nice otherwise, huge candy, sugar bourbon / vanilla malt candy syrup, sweet oak, candy, nice sugar, very nice,… Shame about the body which takes it down.

Tap. Hazy golden color with no head. Aroma is cookie, raisins, vanilla, sugar. Taste is cookies, chocolate, dough, vanilla, raisins. Sticky oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very nice!

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2017. A almost clear dark golden beer. Aroma of vanilla, riped fruits, sweet oak barrel. Taste of sweet vanilla, oak, wood, amazing.
