Troubadour Imperial Stout is a real Imperial Stout, but with a Belgian twist. The beer is almost black and has a solid crème coloured head. It is a powerful beer with strong roasted fragrances. You can taste notes of chocolate, toffee and coffee, followed by a bitter aftertaste.

Capped 750 from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours a ruddy dark brown with a 5 finger creamy/foamy beige head. The aroma brings to mind an Abba Zabba bar (taffy candy bars with peanut butter centers). Tho in years passed I think the contents were longitudinally striated. Med body more or less. There’s a really nice toffee/treacle flavor. Not a lot of bitter. Clearly this finishes on the sweet side, but it is a unique flavor experience in beer. Put this one on your bucket list.

Opaque black - brown beer. Massive pale tan head. Palate is fairly neutral. Fresh dark malts - semi sweet. Mild roast and tang. Brett. Mild tangy dark fruits and dark chocolate. Finishes semi dry with more dark fruit tang - fig and prune. Lactose. Very drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with super large dirty brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with light sweet notes and a Belgian yeast finish. Taste is dominated by medium dry roasted malt notes with light sweet notes and with some black chocolate notes with a fruity Belgian yeast finish. Body is bit light for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not enough complexity for the style.

The beer poured almost black and clear. Its head was large, layered and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, sweetness, aniseed and belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, sweetness, aniseed and bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy, hoppy and bitter. Quite clean Belgian imperial stout and a nice one, too
