Dark caramel-brown colour, hazy but otherwise translucid, with a very small tan-coloured head. Smells a bit like a Flemish red, at first - grapes, vinegar, stuff like that - followed by some nice bourbon, maple syrup. The taste is somewhere between an English barleywine and a quad/dubbel, with notes of caramel, apple brandy, maple syrup, bitter hops and alcohol. Medium body, mild carbonation.

F: off-white to yellow, creamy, lasting. C: red to dark amber, hint of hazy. A: malty, hint of vinous, sour hoppy bitterness, banana, plums, yeast. T: 0,33l bottle from De Hopduvel in Gent, malty, huge of plums, some vinous, decent bitterness hoppy, overripe red fruits, banana, caramel, warm alcohol finish, medium to full body, good carbo, for quadruple not so robust taste but as for organic beer it could be ok.

Nice carbo. --- Beer aliased from original tick of WNTR on 27 Dec 2017 at 06:38 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Bottle @ tasting shared by Joes. Clear dark amber color, medium sized off-white to beige head that's quite bubbly and rough and diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, heavy iron and cherry stone. Flavor also has a bit sour tart-bitter cherry stone and overripe dark fruits. Not a huge amount of herbs or spices so that part I like about this winterbeer but overall I'm still not a fan.

(Draught at Delirium Tap Bar, Brussels, 22 Oct 2014) Hazy reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with notes of dried fruit, figs, prunes and crisp-bread. Malty, slightly roasted taste with toast, dried fruit, figs, prunes, rye bread and a balanced spicy bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite bold and tasty, still fairly well balanced. Quite nice.
