330 cl. bottle sampled @ Borefts 2014 Hotel Room tasting. Thank you! Dark amber, creamy off-white head. Odd herbal, sugar, malty nose. Very heavy on strange herbs taste, soy sauce, iron, malt, bitter leaves. Soy sauce body. Messy, agreeable. --- Beer aliased from original tick of WNTR on 25 Dec 2017 at 05:00 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5. Original review text: Thanks for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2017. Amber brown, little head. Nose is cloying sweet leaves & chemical syrup. Taste is thin fizzy low sour even bitter leaves, chemical, spoiled, syrup, not too good. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Gringel Bells on 23 Dec 2011 at 13:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 6. Original review text: sampled 75 cl. bottle @ Kersbierfestival 2011 – tried this for rarities sake (silly I know), apparently limited to 480 75 cl. bottles – my review for this is strangely brief (the fact that it follows a comment on my 3rd sample of Black Damnation XI might explain that :) – A: dark brown with a white head – taste is a mixture of caramel malts & spices, spices appear to be almost herbal & don’t quite blend, touch bitter Belgian hops in aftertaste which also don’t blend – so-so

Heavy dark Jessenhofke launched in 2010. Intended as a provision, beer, with off-white, sticky head and deep bronze colour. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, hazelnuts, pear, honey, liquorice, candi sugar. Dark fruits in the mouth, yeasty, chocolatey maltiness, some roasted bitterness in the end. A Scotch-style ale in my view and not at all a true bière de garde, but interesting nonetheless.

Bottle Pours clear , very dark red/brown , small white head Sweet smell Taste is very sweet as well , but in a good , full , fruity way . Taste like it was barrel aged in wine or something like that . Very full taste , little traces of sugar though . Must say im very suprised ( in a good way ) about this one ! Aftertaste is dissapointing , sugary --- Beer aliased from original tick of WNTR on 27 Jul 2017 at 17:48 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Pours clear, dark amberbrown. Small white head. Smell is mild spiced, liquorice. Taste is full, mildly bitter, remotely sweet. Some complex, mild dark sugars. Mild liquorice. Nice complexity. Would have prefered aand bit more body though, at this ABV. Carbonation level is just right.

Little cloudy red brown beer, irregular beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, mocha, liquorish, some molasses, aniseed, ripe banana. MF: lots of carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, some banana, mocha, chocolate, liquorish, little bitter. Aftertaste: lots of dark chocolate, some banana, bitter, cocoa powder, some coffee, sourish touch, malty caramel biscuit.Earlier Rating: 2/28/2012 Total Score: 3.426/II/2012 75cl bottle from Kerstbierfestival (Essen) @ home - BB: n/a (2012-160)
Clear reddish to brown beer, big beige to yellow head, unstable, adhesive with nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: mocha, banana, overripe fruits, bit nasty smell to it, raising. MF: too much carbon, light to medium body. Taste: dark chocolate, mocha, dried fruits, burnt caramel, bitter hops, alcohol, brown sugar. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, raisins, mocha, bitter hoppy ending. Let's keep it to: "it grows on you". Earlier Rating: 9/25/2010 Total Score: 3.725/09/2010 - 75cl @ Karakterbierfestival Bissegem
Pours a cloudy copper brown to brown beer, fine beige head, disappears quickly. No refermentation in the bottle, just came out of the Proefbrouwerij brewery. Aroma is heavy sweet, caramel, dried fruits. MF a little flat, no doubt because of the lack of refermentation yet. Round body, smooth texture, even a little oily. Taste of caramel, sweet fruits, roasted malts. Aftertaste has roasted malts, caramel, mocha and a nice sour twist to counter this all.

Strong dark beer. It’s nice in itself, but just too modest, it needs a more outspoken taste. This is too plain.
Earlier Rating: 7/25/2013 Total Score: 2.7
Flavor is malty, sweet and a little roasted. But overall it tastes rather flatt. Boring beer.
