This top-fermented dark beer is brewed with roasted malts. The secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it its powerful and pleasant character. Reddish-brown with a creamy and persistent head. The nose is quite complex, powerful and full-bodied with earthy notes of old wood. First aromas are powerful (alcohol), spicy (wood) yet always well balanced, leading up to a pleasantly caramelised finish. The round mouthfeel and roasted malty flavour reinforce the aromas of coffee and toffee (molasses and caramelised butter). Its dark colour and warm strength make Waterloo Double Dark a delicious beer!

Brown with lasting off-white head. Aroma of dried fruits with a mineral note, some caramel and a touch of cinnamon. Sweet fruity and spicy flavour with a faint roasted note. A bit too sweet otherwise an excellent dubbel

Clear red brown beer, creamy dense light beige head, pretty stable, adhesive with nice lacing. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, bit metallic. MF: bit too much carbon, medium body. Taste: little sour (infected draft lines after 5 days of exposition?), citrus touch, malty but not sweet, caramel, quite some dairy, yoghurt and cheese (all point towards infection of the draft lines). Aftertaste: more cheese, bitter touch, raisins.

Bottle. Clear brown with the odd clump, beige head that fades to a coat. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, stewed fruits, dough. Taste is quite sweet and tastes much as it smells with some drying spices (cloves, star anise, cinnamon) at the end. Nice amount of carbonation and hop finish gives a nice lightness to tidy up the sweetness. Goodish flavours but put together with some elegance.

33cl bottle. Pours an opaque/prune colour with steady gentle bubbles and a good creamy head. The nose has apples and perhaps raisins or prunes. The taste is of more prunes, then toffee which seems to melt into a lemon sorbet finsh. The palate has a big structure, a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish relative to the body. Overall, this is a rich but balanced beer.
