Blonde Ale aged in used Chardonnay barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 9 to 15 months (depending on the age of the barrel) with lots of brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Medium bodied with hints of oak and Chardonnay, funky brett characteristics, with a nice, long sour finish.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, batch 05X1E. Pours lightly cloudy bright golden amber color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tart green apple, grape, pear, lemon zest, straw, hay, grass, oak, clove, pepper, white wine, vinegar, leather, funk, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with big complexity and great balance of yeast ester and wine barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of tart green apple, grape, pear, lemon zest, hay, straw, grass, honey, bread, oak, clove, pepper, white wine, vinegar, leather, funk, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/fruity tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of green apple, grape, pear, lemon zest, hay, straw, grass, honey, bread, white wine, oak, clove, pepper, leather, vinegar, funk, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and balance of malt, wine barrel, and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding wild ale as expected. Tons of great complexity and well balanced flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle at home, thanks to Rilester for muelling this back from CA, 03/10/13. Hazed blonde with a good sized white head. Nose is tarte lemon, apple skin, soured white grapes, musty, slightly dank woody tones. Taste comprises tangy citrus zest, soured grape skins, funky, light acidic notes, dry rot, funky, lemon rind, grassy, barnyard, woody chardonnay notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, fairly smooth for a sour with a bitter citrus tang in the last hurrah. Super drinkable sour !

Aroma is slight tart, white fruit such as apples and peaches. Front of palate is quite tart with a chardonnay like dry finish. Palate is very thin. Very good beer.

Joined purchase with Martinus. Thx! 375 ml. bottle sampled @ decadent symmetry tasting. Bottled on 21/07/2012. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Nose is that of juicy ripe lychee, faint white wine, touch oak, brett, it is clear that brett has been doing its job for a long time here, faint hops, dry, slightly fruity,โฆTate is juicy white grapes, integrated white wine, lychee, brett, well-done, touch oak, thinned by brett, slight spices,.. Fine carb. light & very dry. Very nice, expected a touch more from RR but this is still very nice.
