50 cL bottle. Pours pitch black and with a small off-white to tan head. Milky and roasted malt aroma with a note of dark chocolate. Light acidic flavour and mild milky flavoured. Light bodied. Roasted malty and light smooth finish.

50cl bottle. Pours nearly black with a small creamy head. Nose is roasted toffee & coffee. Smooth but thin palate. Low carbonation. Some sour notes in the end which I dislike. Notes of rye-bread. Could easily have been better!

Bottled. Deep amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, hops, some acidicness and mild chocolatey notes. Flavour is quite much the same, but has some smoked sour wooden notes to it. Bigtime roast in the aftertaste.

Bottle at Chris_o Pre GBBF Shindig 08. It’s black and it’s not made of rats. Actually pretty good. A little light in the mouth but pleasant enough to drink more of.

Black with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt and coffee notes. The flavor goes same way with a roasted finish.

Dark brown. Light toasty nose with a hint of nuttiness and crackers. Sort of a thin body with a light crackery taste. Finishes quick, and far too light

[i] [b] Bottle, dropped off very kindly by Marc Bartram, Bartrams Brewey with casks for the Beer Festival [/i] [/b] Pours very dark brown with foamy head that legs it quite quickly, carbonation quite prevalent and this looks for all the world like a glass of coke. Aroma a bit one dimensional in that all I could get was milk chocolate but there was plenty of that and maybe this added weight to its description of being a milk stout? Tasted a bit sweet and a bit sour, quite nice, bitterness soft, in fact not so much bitterness or roastedness to this one. Still it was tasty even if it wasn’t up to the very high standards of some of the other beers in the Old Chimneys range.
