Keg at Borefts day 2 27/09/2014. Bodegraven. Dark caramel brown coloured pour with a big creamy tan head. Aroma is subdued spicy veg, peppercorn, a little brett like funk on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of big spicy veg pepper, chilli heat, Gets the back of the throat. A little bit of funk, and dark choc. Palate is a little thin with a dry finish. Beer is very out of balance but kinda works.

Bottle, so it’s going to be tough. Black pour. Aroma of soft roadted malt and cacao. Taste is roasted malt and coffee at first, then the pepper kicks in. At first, it’s mild and balanced, but the burn takes over quickly. Finish is moslty pepper. Hot, but not the hottest I ever had. Still way overdone, I hope this extreme pepper trend dies a quick death.

Borefts VI. Day 2. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and dry, fine carbonation. Mild dark malts precedes a massive hot chilli assault. Light finish. Long burning aftertaste. Starting to really loathe these massively overspiced beers.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, chili, caramel and bread. Coffee flavour, chocolate, malts, chili pepper, quite spicy. Finish chocolate and chili, lingering light burn.

Keg at BBF 6, 27/09/14. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is dark malts, light roast, mineral notes, light cocoa, black pepper. Taste comprises spice, green peppers, molasses, chilli, dark malt, cocoa. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with pepper. So so, balance not great, too much of the old pepper spray!

[9/26/14] Draught sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2014 in Bodegraven. Black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, dark fruits and a bit of licorice. Bittersweet flavor, roast, with some chocolate, licorice and a spicy chili finish with burnt notes and a bit of coffee. Full-bodied.

Sampled draft @ Borefts 2014. Thank you! Black, thick mocha; Very odd vegetable chilli in the nose, candy. Taste is strange vegetebale chilli, reasonable bitterness, mocha, metal & liquorish. Med body. Same comment as with their Flaming Ass-Owl beer: I’m a big fan of chilli / spicy food, there are fresh delicious chilli’s that have an almost paprika like structure, there are cooked ones which nicely burn in your mouth & there are nasty vegetable ones which have been probably too long submerged in a liquid or something, which is how too many chilli beers taste like, the later kind is what I find here,… This is manageable but this isn’t really how I like my spicy food nor how I think that it should be. This one is marginally better due to stronger burn which masks more.
