A deep, darkly translucent red, the Gladstone Dark Lager carries mild dark fruit and raisin aroma. Mild roast malt character is complimented by spice and pepper from the Saaz hops, leading gently into flavours of subdued raisin, earthy fruit, and roast nut. A crisp, refreshing mouth feel lingers pleasantly on.

On tap at Gladstone, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some bready notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with bready malt, some toasted notes, and a slight earthy character. Not quite on style; the plate is rather sludgy. Okay.

On tap at the tasting room. The aroma is very soft dark grains and nothing else. Has mellow dark brown body with no foam. Flavour is soft lager with vague dark grain hints, vague coffee notes but it's all glued together into oblivion with that lager. Mouthfeel is full enough. There's nothing interesting to remember here, please move along.
