Master brewer Alfred Van Roy launched Dobbel PALM in 1947 as a festive beer to celebrate the brewery’s bicentenary. Bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2006 in Essen, BE. Dark red / amber color with a average white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, abd yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Balance is good but very easy to drink, but not too interesting.

Drank from a bottle at a resturant. Aroma was sweet with caramel or maple. Taste was sweet caramel but a nice bittery alcohol bite also.

Bottled. Amber colour, beige small head. Aroma of barley and flowery hops. Flavour contains barley, caramel some hops. Quite bitterish finish. Creamy palate, but there is no aftertaste. It just is gone after the bitterish finish.

33cl bottle. 6% on this version. Reddish chestnut colour. Lasting beige head. Cherry fruit aroma with some dry malt. Malt and slightly stale in the mouth, with more cherry and red fruit flavours coming in the end with quite harsh dry hop feeling to the mouth. Strangely drinkable. I like the sweetness of the fruit mixed with hop

Red copper ale with a light sweet malt aroma. Caramel malt taste with signs of oxidation, due to cardboard notes, covering any other qualities. Medium bodied. Thanks Kasta.

(Bottle 75 cl) 6% ABV in my version. First brewed to celebrate the 250 year jubilee of the Palm brewery. Reddish amber with a decent, white head. Not much stronger than the original Palm, actually less malty but more refined and spicy. A decent albeit rather pricey ale - and not really that much better than the original - if better at all? 280398

(bottle) Clear red copper colour with a medium foamy slightly tanned head. Fruity, yeasty and hoppy aroma with a tinge of caramel. Malty taste with a short hoppy medium bitter finish with light hints of liquorice.

Bottle. Slightly malty aroma with a little aromatic hops in it. Light brown colour with big white head. Flavour is malty with some liquorice-like flavours in the front of the mouth. Aftertaste is a little thinner than the start but with OK bitterness.

Chestnut colour, fully clear; yellowish creamy head, collapsing, lacy. Bit of caramel, dark candi sugar; bit herbal, grassy, slightly hoppy aroma. Taste gives very faint liquorice, even fainter hops. Sweetish but balanced by the hoparoma, however faint. Also the taste of industrial ‘speculoos’, Belgian baking “speciality”. Watery and thinnish mouthfeel; sweet aftertaste. Boring, bland, and hardly different – not better – than not-so-Speciale Palm.

[Draft] An amber beer with next to no head and no aroma. The flavor is funny, fresh, with notes of raspberries. It is a little watery in the middle and ends on a slight bitterness with some fruit notes. Nothing special - too thin. I was disappointed compared to Palm Speciale.
