Master brewer Alfred Van Roy launched Dobbel PALM in 1947 as a festive beer to celebrate the brewery’s bicentenary. Dobbel PALM is an amber-coloured, top-fermentation beer with an even more pronounced malty and hoppy character than PALM. Dobbel PALM is the ideal connoisseurs’ beer for the festive season.

[Draft] An amber beer with next to no head and no aroma. The flavor is funny, fresh, with notes of raspberries. It is a little watery in the middle and ends on a slight bitterness with some fruit notes. Nothing special - too thin. I was disappointed compared to Palm Speciale.

Rerate 17/12/03: Amber colour, white head, no bubbles. Little bit malty sweet-rotten aroma. The flavour starts malt-sweet and ends malt. Quite dark amber beer. Very malt aroma and dito flavour.

I remember those good old days, when me and my friends drank a crate of pilsner in one evening. Mostly Hertog Jan. But sometimes there also was a crate of Palm. And then one day in winter, we bought a crate of Palm we thought. Happened to be the winter version, Palm Dobbel. Wow, we sure were wasted that evening. Oh, those memories.
