Alpha King's festive cousin. A big American Xmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar and, of course, tons of strange American hops.

Bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is dark chocolate and floral hop. Thin mouth with nice roast, dark chocolate and resin hop finsh. Very good.

Bottle shared in Hoboken. Pours deep brown with a frothy beige head. The nose holds well toasted malts, some pine, orange rind. Medium sweet flavor with nice earthy bitterness, cocoa, roast, baked pine. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly ashy on the finish with some ripe orange, pine, well toasted bread. Quite nice.

Bottle (2012), with thanks to Drew. Pours a deep ruby black with a medium brown head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, cigarettes, chocolate, rich. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet, roasty, coffee, chocolate, touch of ashes, medium bitterness. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Things really come together nicely in this beer. Not getting much individual character from whatever "strange" hops were used due to the age, but what this has become is downright awesome. Definitely one of my favorite imperial porters.

Pitch Black Color, Huge Foamy Head That Lasts Forever and Leaves Decent Lacing. Nice Fruity Hop Aroma, Reminds Me of Passion Fruit. Unexpected Since Porters Don’t Smell Like It. I Guess This Is Part of that "It’s Not Normal" Slogan That is Printed On Its Label. Taste of Toasted Malt, Faint Chocolate that barely Shines through Strong Floral Hop Bitter. Medium Body. Hides ABV Real Well. Not Your Classic Porter For Sure. Interesting. Enjoyed It. Recommended...

23.12.2013, 0,65l bottle @ home:
Big slightly brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is dark malts, lots of hops, coffee, licorice, rubber, dark sugar, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry, dark malts, hops, leafs, cocoa, licorice, coffee, rubber, hay. Longlasting mild bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice and balanced beer, even though I don’t feel anything Christmasy in this one.
