Alpha King's festive cousin. A big American Xmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar and, of course, tons of strange American hops.

22 oz. bottle thanks to queenholly, shared with friends. Yes we are drinking a X-mas porter in June! Nose is a really great cinnamon, chocolate and earthy pine. The base of the beer is burnt grain, with nice notes of chocolate, earthy dead leaves and a bit of char. The texture is real dry. The body is a perfect medium with some dead pine notes in the finish. The more I sip it the more I enjoy this. Real nice brew.

22 ounce bottle into signature Teku tulip; November 2012 release. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger fairly dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, grapefruit, pine, orange zest, floral, cocoa, caramel, coffee, light char, and piney spiciness. Fantastic aromas with great balance of hop and dark roasted malt notes. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted malt, grapefruit, pine, floral, char, coffee, caramel, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roasted pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, pine, citrus, floral, char, coffee, caramel, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic balance and complexity of very dark malty flavors with citrus/pine hops; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy, sticky, fairly crisp, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. I know this is labeled as a porter; but in my view, this is an absolutely fantastic Black IPA! Big balance and complexity of dark malt and citrus/pine hop flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on. An extremely awesome offering!

Location: 22 oz bottle, 2/3/13, First beer of Super Bowl Day 2013!
Aroma: The nose has some sweet hops, citrus, pine, along with dark malts, coffee, and spice
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that leaves plenty of drippy lace
Flavor: The malts come out more in the early flavor then they did in the nose, with chocolate and roasted coffee up-front to go along with the plentiful and lingering hop bitterness that shows up later on
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: Thanks to whatever combination from the Nerd Beer Epic Weekend crew for hooking me up with this one! This is a top notch Porter for sure, and another great beer from Three Floyds.

Creamy dark chocolate malty, minty/piney, a bit herbal spicy, roasty coffee flavor. Tasty, full flavored and easy to drink.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Poured a lovely dark mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is malty but surprisingly weak. The flavour is bitter malt and liqourice. A really awesome rich flavourful ale.

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma of English malts, toasted biscuits, some winter light spices and caramelized brown sugar. Flavour is very darkly roasted, with English chocolate malt, dark caramelized sugar, and some burnt notes - some hops still plowing their way through after almost a year. Very full-bodied, burnt and roasty. Good stuff.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with small dark brown highlights and thin medium brown head that dissapates quickly. A little lacing, thick body, low carbonation, and hop aroma. Taste is burnt chocolate malt and long bitter hops. Good beer, alcohol pretty well covered, but I prefer Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter for the style.
