Alpha King's festive cousin. A big American Xmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar and, of course, tons of strange American hops.

I had really been looking forward to this one - and while it was a solid beer I was hoping for so much more. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small white head that left no lacing. The aroma was dryish, roasty and had moderate floral hops and faint coffee. The flavor was dryish and roasty with notes of licorice, floral hops, fruity hops. coffee and a bit of apple. The finish was long and roasty with coffee, hops and anise lingering. Medium body. Solid.

Bomber from Secret Santa (Brad in Ohio). Thanks for this 100 pt beer! Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma has lots of chocolate and a strong hop character. Full bodied. Starts with a ton of resin and maybe grapefruit, quickly followed by a mass of very chocolate chocolate. Followed by some light resin/grapefruit. There’s a lot of every thing is this drink that for me finishes pretty dry and nicely bitter. Thanks again Santa!

Gelungen! 8/10/9/11/11/11

A good porter, though not a great one. Pours a nice deep brown with a good-sized head which stays up for a while. Nice flavor of roasted grain and chocolate, with some coffee and fruits present. Decent level of carbonation with a fairly bubbly mouthfeel. I enjoyed it, though don’t know I’d seek it out.

Pours a solid black with a creamy off white head that sticks around for a while before attaching itself to the sides of my glass. Aroma is chocolate, bitter roasted malts, throw in a slight alcohol aroma as well. Tastes of chocolates and coffees, reminds me more of a stout than a porter, but that line is so blurry these days. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a hint of hops in the finish. Ample carbonation. Solid brew all around.

Made with Mexican sugar. Dark brown porter with a very frothy tan head. Rich and strong. Subtle chocolate and a dark fruity note. The big frothy head gives a creamy feel but the finish is coffee and hop bitter.

220z bomber bottle. Pours a thick opaque brown-lack, with and impressively stable beige head. Wow. This beer is phenomenal. Creamy and soft on the palate, lots of cocoa chocolate tones with an interesting hop balance to boot. Bold, but the reasonable 7.5% ABV keeps it highly drinkable. There is a slight pungent chocolate taste, not unlike a Caribbean Stout in some respects, but the odd hoppiness twist and tweaks it into it’s own realm. Pleasant bitter chocolate tones, never overly thick or sticky. There is an almost herbal/spicy feel, not unlike Anchor OSA. This really takes the Porter style and turns it into something new and exciting, while retaining it’s classic qualities as well. World Class.

Thanks to Plovmand and Hallinghansen for sharing. Black with a tiny tan head. Roasted aroma of licorice and rich dark chocolate with hoppy citrus and pine notes. Dry and bitter flavour with lots of cocoa and mild roasted notes.
