Apples pressed with the odd pear or two. A quirky cross between perry and cider, which we affectionately refer to as 'pyder'. We harvested Gravenstein variety apples and Bartlett pears from three different century-old north Pender Island orchards, and pressed and co-fermented them with the naturally occurring yeasts of their place.

750mL bottle, pours a clear pale blonde with a rapidly diminishing white head. Nose reveals a nice barnyard funk upfront, with champagne-like effervescence, and crisp pear skins. Flavour is very crisp, with lots of dry pear skins, light-to-moderate barnyard funk, and a little champagne character. Dry, gently funky, and fairly highly carbonated mouthfeel. Very good.

No foam, light gold, subtle carbonation. Nice tannins on the nose, slight branch, very vague hints of pear and some sweet apple. Flavour comes out warm and sweet apple, soft pear hints, ends dry and very musty, hints of leather that hangs on the tongue. Slight fruitiness gets teased out after the leather hit. Nice and layered.

Light sweet funk, Apple and pear. Cloudy gold with a small white. Semi sweet witch light Apple skin and a pleasant but simple finish. A bit boring for open ferment.
