Unique and limited edition, this Belgian style ale is crafted once a year as a special treat for those of you who appreciate flavorful, bottle-conditioned ale with character. This year’s vintage: a rich, dark and full-bodied ale with a fine and generous coffee-colored, beige foam. It’s ready to enjoy right away and you may also wish to cellar a few bottles. It will evolve interestingly well, developing more complex flavors as the years go by. Keep the bottle upright in storage. Brewed with a delicate balance of noble hops, roasted malts and spices, this is a remarkably smooth ale with a wonderfully complex finish. It is best served slightly shilled, around 53 degrees Fahrenheit and pairs exceptionally well with grilled salmon steaks, curried lamb, beef or tuna au poivre. Crafted and bottled exclusively for Trader Joe’s

750mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out a very bouquet of Belgian yeast, light liquorice, and light earthiness. Flavour is along the same lines, with Belgian yeast, a touch of liquorice, spiciness, and light earth. Classic Unibroue yeast, nice spiciness, and with an aggressive carbonation.

750 ml bottle served at Thanksgiving dinner. The freshest I've had one of these Vintage Ales yet. Delivers a light brown head over a porter brown body. Smell has a bit of yeast and raising to it, then a clean aromatic malt smell. Taste is a melange of roast malt, spice, a bit of cocoa, and ale fruitiness, capped with a bit of yeast. A nice go-with for ham and scalloped potatos.

750 c&c from the Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours very dark brown with a large creamy, foamy tan head. Aroma has dark roasty malt and spice which seems to be ginger and bay. Medium body plus a bit. Flavor is bay, ginger and smooth darkish malt. It's not wholly dry, but fairly so. Not very hoppy, but the spice covers for hop. In some ways it's a Xmas ale/winter ale. As is usually the case, I'm liking this Unibroue ale very much.
